WWD They Are Wearing: Frieze London

I visited Frieze London last weekend. Apart from the art that adorns the walls there is also plenty of inspiration to be gathered...mainly from fellow Frieze goers and their outfit choices. It was one of those hard-to-dress-for days. Getting ones temperature right wasn't easy - going in to the warm tents and out into cold Regents Park all day - as well as looking smart and feeling like they won't spot you as a fraud and throw you out.

I opted for a pair of Zara trousers which are the best things I've bought this season, a silk Whistles scallop edged shirt blouse which is sold out but you can find similar here , a vintage grey coat with fur cuffs (Etsy is quite good for these) and a trusty Anya Hindmarch day clutch. I bumped into my wonderful and lovely friend, the photographer Marcus Dawes who was covering Frieze for Women's Wear Daily (WWD) and he took my photograph for They Are Wearing feature. Geranium Bourbon by Miller Harris

I am mad about Miller Harris. Having vowed that I would be a lifelong wearer of only Guerlain scents I found myself in a bit of a predicament…but then this particular perfume is too delicious to ignore.

Geranium Bourbon is by no means one of Lyn Harris’ newer scents but I think it’s a classic. It has been in my life for a few years now and I often finish a bottle and forget about it for a while...but as soon as Summer comes around I yearn to have it back. For me, each spritz comes with the memory of a holiday, a full, green garden and warm evenings.

It’s a flowery, rosy geranium with palmarosa, cassis with a touch of French violet, Turkish rose and black pepper, combined with notes of vanilla, amber and patchouli. It’s not too light, nor too dark. It’s mysterious but not too sexy for the daytime. Having said that, people of the gentlemen variety love it. I have been stopped and followed down the street on more than one occasion while wearing Geranium Bourbon and find hugs and kisses linger longer than they should. It sinks into the skin and floats on the air around you, leaving a divine bouquet in your wake.

Supergas

All my lovely smart shoes have been ruined by this rain so I decided to purchase a pair of Supergas to get me through the Summer. They are a snip at £40, sturdy, a design classic, come in every shade of the rainbow and are suuuper comfortable and practical for jumping over puddles...what's not to love? 

I'm sure they won't stay white for long but that's ok.

Chanel Classic Ballet Flats

I did something bad at the weekend...Despite the fact I can barely cover my rent, I took a small jaunt to Chanel. Ever since I can remember I have lusted after a pair of their classic, two tone flats. My idea of outfit heaven is a pair of these iconic shoes teamed with a trench coat, a pair of jeans and a white shirt...possibly in Paris...in the rain...with a lover...

Well there was definitely rain and I definitely own a trench coat. I happen to be visiting Paris in a few weekends time so I can at least try to complete the picture.

They are exceptionally comfortable. I always thought they would make me feel a bit Sloaney and too grown up but actually having recently seen them on Alexa Chung and Olivia Palermo, they have a lovely ladylike-ness to them and they are the perfect investment for many summers to come. Now let's hope the rain stays away or failing that, I can find a Parisian gentleman to rescue me from the storm...

Victoria Grant - Milliner Extraordinaire

These heavenly headpieces are by the wonderful Victoria Grant. She is a hugely talented milliner and has fans in people such as Lady Gaga, Paloma Faith and Charlotte Olympia Dellal so in wearing her hats - you're in very good company to say the least...

Her hats are have a magical quality to them - they are refreshingly different from all the feathery fascinators on every street corner. They make you feel incredibly special and pretty invincible as soon as you put one on. I never thought I would wear a yellow hat but it just makes sense! Party Dress

When I need to look a bit snazzier than usual and require a long dress I always turn to my trusty Notte by Marchesa (their diffusion line) gold disc dress. I bought it in the sale on Net-a-Porter and felt sick about the amount of money I had spent but it has turned out to be one of the best investments I have ever made. Giorgio Armani - Frames of Your Life

Jackie Dixon the lovely photographer and blogger of Show Me Your Wardrobe fame was commissioned by Giorgio Armani to shoot a new ad campaign for the launch of their glasses collection. My friend Flora and I happened to be on Ledbury Road and she took our photos last year.
